Alexandra Kol

was born in Vienna and received her first violin lessons from her father Heinrich Koll, principal violist with the Vienna Philharmonic, at the age of four. After turning six years of age, she augmented her violin study under Professor Eugenia Polatschek at the Vienna Conservatory. In the ensuing years she took part in numerous master classes of outstanding artists, such as Dimitri Sitkovetsky, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Lewis Kaplan and Pierre Amoyal, while at the same time completing her Matura degree with distinction at the Vienna Music High School in 2003. She has won numerous prizes, among which are: First and Special Prizes at the Prima la Musica Competition and, in 2001, 1st Place at the International Violin Competition in Barletta, Italy. Since her debut as a soloist in 2001, as part of Musica Juventutis in the Vienna Konzerthaus, Alexandra Koll has maintained a busy concert schedule at home and abroad. She was a soloist in concerts with the Jugendphilharmonie, the Donauphilharmonie and participated in various tours with the K.u.K. Philharmonie, playing concerts in numerous concert halls, such as the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna. In 2003 she performed in the anniversary concert of Musica Juventutis and in 2011 she played a recital under the ‘Young Musicians’ series in the Metal Hall of the Musikverein.
In April of 2009, she performed with the Küchl Quartet in the Musikverein and in June of that same year received her degree with distinction at the Vienna Conservatory. Alexandra Koll has made additional solo appearances, such as those with "Licht ins Dunkel" and the Vienna Festival, which are documented on CD. She also performed on a CD recording of her father's as well as a recent CD production by the ‘Koll Trio’.
Together with her father and younger sister, she is part of the Koll Trio and thus participates in this trio's concert series in Vienna in the Glass Hall of the Musikverein, has toured with them in the United States, Japan and also performed for the "Philharmonische Verführung" series on Austrian Broadcasting. Alexandra Koll has been a substitute for the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic as well as with the Vienna Symphony and the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra. Since January 2012, Alexandra Koll is a member of the second violin section of the Vienna Symphony.
